Summary/Objective
As Tax Manager, you will lead and manage multiple operations of the tax practice area and deliver quality tax services, thereby increasing the firm’s reputation. You’ll serve as a business advisor to clients, aiming to maximize engagement and achieve qualitative outcomes. This role involves ensuring that clients’ state and federal tax documents are prepared and filed in a timely manner, providing advice on tax planning, tax research, and tax compliance. Successful management of multiple projects and identifying opportunities for client base growth are key aspects of this role.
Responsibilities
- Delivers a full range of tax services in compliance with laws and regulations within given timeframes.
- Builds relationships and interacts with clients to provide excellent planning, consulting, and expertise.
- Provides innovative tax planning and reviews complex income tax returns.
- Identifies and mitigates tax risks.
- Coordinates accounting staff and assesses their performance.
- Manages tax provisions and tax compliance processes.
- Develops or implements best practices to improve processes.
- Manages and coordinates tax audits.
- Maintains tax balances on the general ledger.
- Prepares tax papers on a regular basis and handles all information data requests.
- Coaches and mentors the finance/accounting team.
- Manages individual income tax compliance, tax counseling, tax projections, tax notices, and other financial-related support for the partners of the firm.
- Performs various other duties as assigned by the Manager.
- Oversees, prepares, and delivers corporate income tax returns (federal and state) and manages the retention of necessary documentation for audit.
- Manages a high volume of client load and complex projects with minimum supervision.
- Protects the organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
- Maintains timely month, quarter, and year-end close-out processes to support the foreign parent company’s closing schedule.
- Provides back-up support to investment accounting, including investment fund valuation analysis and other core tasks.
- Partners with finance leadership to identify and implement process improvements for tax and other processes (as assigned).
Qualifications
- Experience with Lacerte.
- Excellent knowledge of tax accounting, tax compliance, and all types of tax returns.
- Knowledge of tax software.
- Proficiency in meeting deadlines and solving problems.
- Exceptional client service with the ability to develop excellent client relationships.
- Strong leadership and personnel management skills.
- Excellent analytical skills with a detail orientation.
